We are a Cape Town team of healthcare professionals, engineers, and operators tired of watching agencies take 30% off the top while healthcare professionals wait 30 days to be paid. Locum is what happens when the people closest to the problem build the tool.
Why we built it
The status quo is broken.
Locum healthcare staffing in South Africa runs through a handful of agencies that take 28–35% commission, sit on payments for 14–30 days, and treat healthcare professionals as interchangeable.
Facilities don't love it either. Cover for a single weekend shift can take three days of phone tag, and the audit trail is paperwork in a filing cabinet.
We saw the same pattern that direct-marketplace platforms fixed in other industries — and built it for healthcare, with the regulatory care this domain needs.
How we work
Four principles we measure ourselves against.

Paid your way, protected either way.
Facilities pay you directly on terms you agree, or — where escrow is enabled — funds are secured before the shift and released on completion. Either way, QR-verified attendance protects both sides, and the platform never takes a cut from professionals.

Compliance is a feature.
POPIA-compliant audit, HPCSA verification, hash-chained logs, WORM archival. Healthcare is regulated for good reasons; we treat that as design constraint, not box-tick.

No lock-in.
Contact reveals after a shift completes. Off-platform work is allowed. We earn your repeat use; we do not require it contractually.

Built by people close to the problem.
Our founding team includes practising healthcare professionals who have worked locum shifts across South African private hospital networks, engineers from healthcare and fintech backgrounds, and a former medical-staffing operations lead.
We do not pretend to know everything about your specialty or your facility's workflow. The pilot is a structured way for us to learn from you while you learn the platform.
